Learning how to move an out of control toddler is nobodies favorite past time. This can be a difficult but necessary little situation. Parenting oppositional and defiant toddlers is always a challenge. However when it comes time to move them it can be particularly troubling. Children can be very aggressive and wildly out of control all at once when they become overwhelmed.
This is completely normal though, as far as developmental standards are concerned. Not all children who exhibit these symptoms have Oppositional Defiant Disorder. Children at this stage are very inexperienced with how to handle their emotions.

Of course the number one rule is never give in or give them what they want. If you have ever been stuck in that awful public tantrum throwing toddler situation before, then you know you have to move them. Or rather, remove them from where ever it is you are.
This is not always easy. Unfortunately it is necessary in most situations though.
It's always best to consider the number of the people around you and understand not everyone will be bothered by it but its better to be safe than sorry and just remove your child. One of the best ways to move your out of control toddler is by carrying them face out cradling their torso. You put one arm through between their legs and reaching up to grab your other arm over their shoulder and head.
It is a much easier experience when you bring someone else along with you. Obviously they can offer some assistance and help out. Prevention is always the best force but sometimes when they are going through these stages they can be very unpredictable and so its hard to avoid. Young children especially toddlers between 3-5 have a very difficult time dealing with frustrations and controlling their stronger emotions.
It can be frustrating when you think about it in the wrong way. So try to understand that most people are not looking at you in an ugly judgmental way. No one will be questioning your parenting skills either. An easy ninety-percent of people completely understand what you are going through and are not even concerned in the slightest. If anything they are probably relating with empathy and happy in the knowledge they are not alone because they are on the same page with their kids.
They can be pretty intense with the punching and kicking so it is always advised to move quickly once you see the signs. If they are already kicking and pouncing go ahead and quickly over power them by getting a hold of their arms. Cradle them safely and then move instantly for the door. Whenever you see this written in books or magazines the phrase is almost always, "Gently but firmly." I like it though. It works.
Parenting oppositional and defiant toddlers is not usually very fun, especially when they go out of control in public. Then it becomes time to move the screaming, kicking toddler. It even sounds dangerous. But we all have to do what we must to help them through this phase. Patience is important and always remember that the more you give in the more they will repeat this cycle.
